2017: a finely balanced, deep and subtle vintage

ARTICLE -

« A precocious vintage, 2017 once again reveals the exceptional qualities of our magnificent terroir. It was a year characterized by a series of extreme meteorological events during which our team’s increasingly precise understanding of each plot—and expertise in the vineyard and the cellar—proved crucial.
As always, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to discover the 2017 vintage of Cos d’Estournel. »

Cos d’Estournel 2017, sophisticated
Dense and deep, Cos d’Estournel 2017 reveals itself with tastefulness and grace. On the palate its tannins are exquisite—silky and seductive—and it offers the sophistication of a truly great wine with the body of an exceptional Cos d’Estournel.
Its aromas are spicy and wonderfully fresh, offering a fine balance between acidity and fruit.
Opulent without being overly imposing, with a very long finish, it is a vintage with great cellaring potential.

Pagodes de Cos 2017, succulent
Since its creation in 1994, Pagodes de Cos is made from grapes grown on dedicated plots whose vines are 35 years old on average.
The 2017 vintage is characteristically round on the palate but also offers its own unique charm.
Silky and immensely fresh, it is a lively, energetic wine with intense fruit. Velvety with a dense mid-palate, it is particularly flavorsome and enticing.

92-93/100 – James Suckling

Cos d’Estournel Blanc 2017, harmonious
A floral nose and pure aromas of fruit play against a luscious sensation of roundness.
Long and fully rendered, it is a balanced wine with great density.
The cool temperatures during the growing cycle proved ideal in allowing the Sauvignon Blanc grapes to preserve their fruity aromas.

Goulée by Cos d’Estournel 2017, vigorous
Refined and elegant, the Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 2012 has begun to fully reveal itself in the structure of Goulée by Cos d’Estournel. Located in the northernmost reaches of the Médoc, the terroir of Goulée reacted more extremely to weather conditions, resulting in a vintage with great energy.
Fruity aromas are very present, along with a lovely balance between peppery, mineral and saline notes on one hand and roundness and sheer pleasure on the other.

16.5/20 – Julia Harding (JancisRobinson.com)
92-93/100 – James Suckling
