Médoc Adventures

La Maison d’Estournel is a place that resembles no other. From the moment your long journey along the Route des Châteaux comes to an end and you cross the threshold, you will feel the difference. Everything has been designed for you to feel at home, and for each day to feel like a unique experience.

While you will feel tempted to enjoy the leisurely pleasures of life in the Médoc, doing little more than savoring the quiet delights of the cozy living room and the century-old park, even a long weekend will not suffice to explore all the region has to offer . . .

Enjoy a relaxed moment in the park, savor a glass of Cos d’Estournel at the counter of the open kitchen and discover the seasonal delicacies concocted by our Chef.

La Maison d’Estournel is the ideal destination to get away from it all. Come one-on-one or with friends or family and stay with us for a weekend or more. For an unforgettable stay at La Maison d’Estournel, please call or email Thérèse at +33 5 56 73 15 57 or at reservations@lamaison-estournel.com.

Whether you are travelling as a couple, a group or a family, you will enjoy exploring the region’s many nature reserves—the Cousseau pond, the dunes and marshland in Hourtin, Logit and Perge—by bicycle, foot, horseback or ATV; each visit is sure to be filled with amazing encounters.

A bit higher in elevation, the Médoc Atlantique’s Route des Phares will satisfy your desires for surf and spray as you discover the lighthouses of Cordouan, Grave, Richard and Hourtin, the last of which is nestled in the pine forest. And if you are seeking to defy gravity, why not take a ride in a hot-air balloon and enjoy a singular view of the vineyards, the Gironde Estuary and the Atlantic beaches as they stretch endlessly along the coast?

The Médoc also offers a plethora of outdoor activities for lovers of the land and the sea. You may perfect your golf swing in Lacanau, Margaux or Saint-Émilion or trot through the region’s forests and vineyards on horseback. Or enjoy surfing the waves in Hourtin, paddling down the Guâ canal by kayak from Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc or seeking the adrenaline rush of landsailing in Montalivet . . .

Finally, no visit of the region would be complete without exploring the wealth of our terroir. Wine-lovers may discover the secret joys of Bordeaux’s most celebrated vineyards as they venture along the iconic Route des Châteaux.

The region’s gastronomy is also a highlight, and at La Maison d’Estournel, the dishes concocted by our Chef are inspired by a host of excellent products sourced from local vegetable growers, authentic bakers and farms, aquaculturists and traditional confectioners. It is truly a region where delights for the palate abound.

So hop on your bike, get your golf clubs ready, head out for a picnic among the vines or grab your fishing rods and savor a feeling of joyful nostalgia as you immerse yourself in the rich, preserved terroir of the Médoc, for an authentic getaway in a place whose charms are unending.
