Sun, Steak & Wine

California, steakhouses: two American icons.
Here is our Californian guide to discover some of the establishments that stand out as much for the quality of their cuisine as for their exceptional wine lists.

Los Angeles

Baltaire’s take on the steakhouse experience is all about celebrating its culinary traditions. It is a warm and inviting space where diners may enjoy a selection of outstanding steak dishes and impeccable service. Its extensive wine menu is filled with offerings from the world’s most renowned winegrowing regions, including Burgundy, Napa Valley, the Piemonte, and the Médoc.

Los Angeles

Welcome to a place in Hollywood where the spotlight is focused on the cuisine rather than the stage! Brothers Curtis and Luke Stone conceived their Mecca for steak as a tribute to their grandmother Gwen, a livestock farmer in Australia. The restaurant’s wine list is a magnificent journey between the Old and New Worlds, featuring bottles from California, France, and Italy, as well as numerous Australian wines.

Alexander’s Steakhouse
Pasadena, Los Angeles, Cupertino

Alexander’s Steakhouse delivers its modern, Japanese-influenced vision of a steakhouse at three different locations between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It offers extraordinary cuts of Japanese wagyu as well as a wide variety of vintages of Cos d’Estournel. And the restaurant’s corkage fee allows wine-lovers who want to enjoy their meal with their own wines to do just that.

Osso Steakhouse
San Francisco

Osso offers a classic steakhouse experience in Nob Hill, San Francisco, with the precision of a Swiss watch. The cuisine served in the restaurant’s elegant Art Deco setting is concocted around magnificent cuts of USDA Prime and Certified Angus Beef. The restaurant’s wine list highlights several of California’s most renowned estates and includes an impressive selection of Bordeaux’s finest wines, including Cos d’Estournel 2009.
