They want to understand the <em>terroir<\/em> and production methods and are ready to treat themselves to rare wines,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n<p>At Sherlock\u2019s Wine Merchant, a historic wine distributor, Doug Bryant and Craig Maske confirm the trend: \u201cThe wine scene in Atlanta is booming, with an increasing number of innovative wine bars and wine festivals and clubs.\u201d These new offerings often target a younger audience that is also better versed in wine. \u201cWith time, wine consumers have become more curious and educated,\u201d says Craig Maske.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;77704&#8243; img_size=&#8221;610&#215;500&#8243; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;custom_link&#8221; link=&#8221;https:\/\/atlasrestaurant.com\/&#8221;][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #a50c35;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: loraregular;\">A turning point: the launch of Michelin\u2019s Atlanta Guide<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While Atlanta has been seeing creative new formats and growing interest among younger wine consumers, the launch of Michelin\u2019s Atlanta Guide in 2023 also elevated standards, inciting restaurants and sommeliers to revisit their menus. \u201cIt encouraged healthy competition. The Michelin Guide set higher standards and allowed the city to grow recognition abroad,\u201d states Mcswell Pereira, head sommelier at Michelin-starred Atlas. This led to new restaurants with extensive wine lists, multi-tiered wine and food pairings and the introduction of lesser-known regions and producers. According to Adriane Laclef, business development manager for Cos d\u2019Estournel in the U.S., Atlanta is thriving: \u201cThe arrival of the Michelin Guide bolstered ambitions. Consumers have been increasingly interested in wine and want to explore different regions. At Atlas, four pages of the wine list are dedicated to the region\u2019s wines. \u201cFine wine lovers enjoy discovering different vintages of Bordeaux,\u201d underscores Mcswell Pereira.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">At Sherlock\u2019s, Doug Bryant and Craig Maske affirm: \u201cThe wines of Bordeaux have become a habit among connoisseurs.\u201d And within the panorama of offerings, Cos d\u2019Estournel benefits from \u201ca strong cultural identity, its balance between tradition and innovation,\u201d underscores Adriane Laclef. These are elements sought by a generation that \u201cis not only seeking prestige but a narrative and a style, as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #a50c35;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: loraregular;\">A young city with great promise<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Atlanta, a new wine capital for the U.S.? \u201cThe level of knowledge and the breadth of the wine lists are not yet comparable to those found in New York or Chicago,\u201d Mcswell Pereira tempers. But enthusiasm is palpable, with a diversification of profiles and a proliferation of initiatives.
