The Harvest, Up Close and Personal!

ARTICLE -

Put on your harvesting gear, grab a basket and a pair of pruning shears, and off you go!
Did you miss the chance to join the harvest this year? Let Jerry Dohse tell you all about “his” harvest at Cos d’Estournel!

How did your passion for wine come to you?

« Over ten years ago we were invited to a couple of wine tasting experiences with very good friends and we enjoyed everything about it: the company, the rich engaging experiences and after a few of these events we decided to learn more about wine.
We realized that when you share your knowledge and appreciation for wine, you savor the time you spend with friends, family, and the memories you create together.
Now we plan vacations around wine regions, and we are always learning!

How did you become a harvester at Cos d’Estournel?

« As we were planning our vacation to Bordeaux with our friends Sandra and William in 2019, we were arranging some wine tasting and tours to the vineyards that we wanted to visit.
Cos d’Estournel was part of it, and when we received an email from there asking if we would like to be part of the harvest, we couldn’t believe it! We were so excited about it! That day became the highlight of our trip! And since then we have been dreaming of returning to visit Cos d’Estournel.

« Friendship and camaraderie »

What memories do you keep of this day?

« It was so much fun! As soon as we get there we had to change into harvest clothes including boots and a polo shirt. Aside from converting to a harvester at Cos d’Estournel which was a great experience we had the opportunity to join all the harvesters for a delicious meal accompanied by beautiful Cos d’Estournel wine! »

What surprised the most about it?

« We loved the friendship and camaraderie between harvesters and wine makers, everyone was so happy that day, including us! »

Tell us “your” Cos d’Estournel

« When we drink a glass of Cos d’Estournel , it is not just a drinking a glass of wine, but a passion that engages all the senses. It is complete and tells the story of a terroir and its history.
Cos d’Estournel is so special to us. We were fortunate to locate some Cos d’Estournel magnum from 1996 ad 1998, the birthyear of two of our children. We celebrated their graduations from medical school and a Master’s degree to enjoy for the graduation. We celebrated with them and our closest of friends. A moment to always be cherished!
